Giraffe House
At The Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness centre we provide easy access to some of Africa’s wonderful wildlife and bird species. Focusing on African wildlife, Giraffe House aims to provide a place for people to enjoy the outdoors, whilst experiencing and learning about animals and why they are special. An important member of their team is Gerry, our hand reared giraffe. Did you know that giraffes can reach almost 6 m and are therefore the tallest land mammals on earth? Some other animal friends that have been selected to form part of our wildlife educational programs join Gerry.
Lion Park
Drakenstein Lion Park was established in 1998 to provide lions in distress with sanctuary, where they could live in safety, free from abuse and persecution, and be treated with the compassion and respect they deserved.
The Park is situated in the scenic Cape Winelands and comprises of 50 acres of sprawling lion habitat.
The Park is actively involved in improving the quality of life of lions in captivity, locally as well as internationally, either by offering these animals a lifetime home or working in conjunction with other animal welfare organizations to secure a safe future for individual animals in dire need.
Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm
Over one thousand crocodiles, over one hundred skins, over ten baby crocs and only one Albino named Snowy. Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm is a registered breeder and thus the dammed domicile of this Nile reptile.
Monkey Town
Monkey Town Primate Centre is a Wildlife Centre for monkeys and apes as well as a large variety of other species of animals. There are more than 250 primates and 26 different exotic species of monkeys and apes including Tammy, Ruby, and Sunny, our famous chimp sisters.
Monkey Town is not just a primate centre but also a wildlife centre with over 700 animals in total to admire. Visitors to the well-designed enclosure at Monkey Town observe the monkeys from caged walkways allowing the monkeys to roam freely on the outside.
Cheetah Outreach
Cheetah Outreach is an education and community-based program created to raise awareness of the plight of the cheetah and to campaign for its survival. Cheetahs, Wild dogs and other small predators can be seen on site. Cheetah encounters are available for an extra cost.
