Main Info
Explore the most diverse region of Kruger National Park on foot!
Walk Pafuri – Hutwini Camp
Join us and explore the wonders of the Makuleke Contractual Park. The Pafuri Triangle constitutes the northernmost section of the Kruger National Park and comprises approx. 240 square kilometres of land. The “triangle” is a wedge of land created by the confluence of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu at the tripoint Crook’s Corner, which forms a border with Zimbabwe along the Limpopo River. It is a natural choke point for wildlife crossing from North to South and back, and forms a distinct ecological region.
The Pafuri region is famous for its bird watching and more than 250 bird species have been recorded in a year. While comprising only about 1% of the Kruger National Park’s actual area, the area contains plants and animals representing almost 75% of the Parks total diversity. The area has both semi-arid vegetation including numerous large baobabs as well as rich riverine forests with large Nyala Trees and Jackalberries. Game is plentiful all year round. The area is probably most famous for its elephant and buffalo herds.
Pafuri, in the wild north of the Kruger National Park, is unrivalled walking safari country. You’ll call the seasonal bush camp home, where staff serves fuel for the next day’s trek: rich food and drink in hearty portions. The walking safari offers you the opportunity to focus on the little things, whilst also experiencing the rush of adrenaline when you happen upon the Big 5.
